05 Action Verbs // Due the week of Oct. 1, 2014

Buenos Dias Clase!

This week, you will be working with action verbs—the absolute key building block of speaking!

Workbook:

  • Complete the handout I gave you in class on action verbs—it's from a workbook like the ones you have, but it is from a later workbook, which is why I just gave you the copies.
Simon Says:
  • Play "Simon Says" with a family member or friend! (The other person can have the words in front of them.) Take turns playing and saying things like:
    • Simon says Correr! (Run)
      • Then run in placed (or if you're outside, you could really run!)
    • Simon says Hablar! (Talk)
      • Then talk, like Blah, Blah, Blah
    • Simon says Comer! (Eat)
      • Then make the motion for eating
Let It Go:
  • Have fun watching Frozen's "Let It Go" in Spanish!

04 School Supplies

Hola Clase!

This week, you will be learning what the school supplies are, so you can use them as we use them in school!

Workbook:

  • Complete pages 29-34 in your workbook 2.
Extra Practice:
  • Go through the things in your backpack/bin/supply-bookshelf, etc, and label them either out loud, or with sticky notes or slips of paper next to them! (You may want to do this after watching the following video which will introduce you to most of the pronunciations.)
  • Watch the following video at least 3 times throughout the week! You'll want to interact out loud with the video and do everything it says! (However, you may skip the part where you add up the numbers for another time when we've learned numbers better.)
    • You'll be using the phrase, "Yo quiero comprar… a school supply."
    • "Yo quiero" means "I want"
    • "Comprar" means "To buy"

  • Homework:
    • Two options:
      • With a family member, friend, or sibling, take turns drawing either a body part, animal, or verb. Then guess what it is in Spanish in a fun game of Spanish pictionary for about 15-20 minutes! You can split this up into 5 minutes a day if you'd like :) Encourage your family to guess with the Spanish word and learn along with you! (If you choose this option, see the below sentence to have your parent sign:
        • (Johnny Smith) played Spanish pictionary for 15-20 minutes! Signature:__________________________
      • If you don't have a person to play pictionary with you or don't want to play pictionary, pick 5 animals and 3 verbs to draw and label on a piece of paper.
